Golden Gravel Ride: Mid-Late July Start From Portland,OR
Created: February 2, 2026
Solo rider looking for one or two riders to explore the Golden Gravel Ride. After years taking people on adventure trips all over the world while running the Charleston: Hiking, Travel & Adventure Group, I’m going to switch out my backpack (for a while at least) for my Surly and ride the Golden Gravel Ride. Fly into Portland, OR mid-July. Ride from Tigard, OR to the coast and then down the Oregon Coast to Port Orford to start the GGR ride. Planning 50-60+ miles a day based on riding conditions. Lodging indoors or outdoors based on wherever we end up for the night. Since Cape Girardeau isn’t the easiest place to travel to and from, I may exit the ride early with a flight home from Wichita, KS or continue the ride on to the TransAmerica to Richmond, VA to catch the train home. My name is David and I’m a 71-year-old male interested in the botany, geology and history along the route. After the last year, I’m doing this ride to help renew my faith in America.
Drop-In Great Divide Route
Great Divide Southbound June, 2026
Created: March 20, 2026
Seeking companion(s) for riding southbound on the Great Divide, GDMBR, from Banff to Colorado beginning in later June, 2026. I’m a 72 y/o male, but rode Banff to Jackson in 2024, and Antelope Wells to Silverthorne last summer. Aim for an avrerage of 40-60 miles a day, but days have ranged from 20-100 miles on previous GDMBR trips depending on the terrain. Rest days as needed, usually every 7-10 days. I usually like to camp out or stay in community shelters, as that facilitates meeting others on the ride, but have no objection to motels, Warm Showers. If interested, or just have questions on the routes from my previous trips, let me know.
Great Divide Route Southbound
Created: March 18, 2026
Leaving Banff (Canmore-much more affordable lodging 🥹) on July 23. I am a 69 year old male with fair amount of experience, having done the Trans Am( couple years ago) and toured Northern Europe many years ago. Handy with tools and unexpected problem solving. Targeting 40-50 miles per day, depending on conditions. Like to enjoy the ride and laugh when things don’t go quite the way they were planned . Very happy to discuss with any interested riders.
Great Divide Northbound explore! Summer 2026
Created: March 12, 2026
Plan to start around June 1, 2026 Northbound Great Divide in Antelope Wells NM area. I can be flexible on timing after mid-May. Riding 30-50 miles per day with 60+ miles if more pavement than gravel/track. Companion rider(s) for all or part (particularly the beginning), is welcome.
Last year I started the GD route in Jackson WY and ended in Banff, travelling solo other than first 8-days. I have a relaxed but strong pace with stops for scenery and just being in the moment of appreciating the ride. It is about the ride, after all! I get distracted by nature such as birds and really enjoyed talking with fellow GD riders, who were numerous since most of them were travelling in the opposite direction.
My plan is to continue northbound to at least Jackson WY. Another possible endpoint is around Whitefish MT. Overachiever’s goal would be Banff, Alberta.
Stats for me: 69-year-old female retired engineering professor. I will have camping, cooking and bike tools. Solo tent.

Drop-In TransAmerica Trail
PACIFIC OCEAN TO ATLANTIC OCEAN – JUNE 2026
Created: March 12, 2026
Planning a bicycle tour from Oregon to the East coast of the USA beginning in early June 2026.
Made a similar journey in 2022. 4,000+ miles over 72 pedaling days with 125,000+ feet of elevation gain, I have also cycled from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific coast, mostly on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).
I am a male in my 70’s and looking to travel with other low key, like minded individuals. Leaning toward primarily using ACA’s “TransAmerica Trail.” Perhaps ACA’s “Lewis & Clark Trail” from Astoria to Missoula, and then get on TransAmerica Trail. Can be flexible.
Would like to average 50+/- miles each day depending on the normal things (weather, terrain, accommodations, etc.) with a weekly (+/-) rest day depending on the normal things. Plan on light camp cooking, cafe meals and convenience store snack stops. Primarily using campgrounds, Warm Showers, friends & family, occasional hotel/motel, hostels, churches, city parks (where allowed).
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Eastbound TransAmerica – Seeking fellow millennials!
Created: March 9, 2026
Heya! Millennial female (she/they) looking for other chill millennials to ride with. Starting in May from Seattle to Astoria, then heading east – looking to finish by end of July-ish. Probably 50-60 miles/day on average, camping/hostels mostly with hotels/rest days every so often. Join for all or part of the trip!
Trans America West to East
Created: February 26, 2026
Going to ride part of the trans America route this year. Leaving from from Southern IL to Norfolk in the spring before it gets hot in the Midwest. Flexible but maybe middle May? Then in the fall before it gets cold I want to ride from Missoula to Southern IL. Maybe first week of September? This will complete route for me I started last yr. Anyone on route during similar time and wants some company that would be great. I’m 68 yr old married male and live in both Tucson and central IL. Rode from Oregon to Missoula with friends met on forum last yr and it was fantastic experience. Try to mostly camp but motel if it is bad weather. We averaged about 50/day coming through mountains to Missoula but I think might pick up a few more across Midwest. No hurry for me. Retired several yrs ago. I am mostly self sufficient but I find it is nice to have a companion in case of trouble. I am easy going, avoid politics, and love to talk ideas and laugh.
TransAm Westbound Late May
Created: February 6, 2026
I’m Paul, a 64-year-old male planning to ride the TransAm westbound beginning late May 2025. I expect to complete the ride in 75-80 days, (~60-65 miles/day) which seems like a comfortable timeline. But I don’t mind going slower if we decide we need more time to take in all the good stuff along the route. I’m planning to camp most nights, but will be looking for other indoor accommodations too, especially on rest days.
TansAmerica East to West Starting 2nd or 3rd week in April
Created: January 24, 2026
I’m Mike a 65-year-old avid (although wife describes it as fanatical 🙂 road and mountain bike cyclist located in the Tampa Bay area the past 32 years. I’m planning to ride the TransAmerica route, self-supported, as laid out by Adventure Cycling Association doing 60-80 miles daily with some down/recovery days (roughly weekly). Primarily camping but occasional Warm Showers and hotels. Food will be picked up along the route (typically restaurant for lunch) with a few dehydrated meals just in case. Past tours include:
2022-08 Michigan Upper Peninsula from Mackinaw Bridge to Manitowoc, WI along Lake Superior (solo, self-supported, 10 days).

ETC
If this is something you’d like to do, I’d love to hear from you.
Regards,
Mike
TransAm Westbound in Segments
Created: January 17, 2026
In 2018 I started my TransAm journey from Yorktown headed West. I could not get enough time off from work to ride all the way to Astoria, so I have been riding it in segments. In May 2026 I plan to pick up where I left off in Wichita KS and follow the original Trans America route. I am retired now, so my goal is to finish the trip in one last segment. I am hoping to connect with a person or group headed west. I am a 69-year old male and an experienced touring cyclist. I generally plan for 50 – 60 miles per day, although longer days may be required to find a place to stay for the night. I am flexible about overnight options, from camping to hoteling and everything in between.

June 2026 Ride from Oregon to Minneapolis, MN
Created: December 2, 2025
My name is Tim. I’m 66 and planning a solo, self-sustained bike ride from Escataba, OR to Minneapolis, MN starting in early June. I have biked the east cost from Calais, ME to Key West (actually as three separate rides) by myself and have ridden from MD to MN, also on my own. Have also done multiple shorter distance rides.
I typically combine warmshowers, tent camping and hotels for accommodations. I average about 55 miles/day and typically take a down day once a week (sightseeing & rest).
I have ACA maps for various routes (TransAmerica, Lewis & Clark, Parks, Peaks & Prairies). Would be happy to connect and see whether our ride times, routes and personalities are compatible to share some of the ride together.
More about me on my warmshowers link: https://www.warmshowers.org/user/273279
I have a Youtube channel with videos about some of my adventures if that is of any interest to you: https://www.youtube.com/@timstevens9352
Seattle to Washington DC
Created: November 3, 2025
I’m 64 and retire from the State of Alaska in May 2026 (retired from Army back in 2005) so I’m kicking things off with a ride across the USA. While I’m flexible on dates my intent is to depart sometime in June to July 2026 and ride about 65-75 miles daily with a weekly down/recovery day. I’ve used Warmshowers, campgrounds, occasional hotels, etc. in the past and I’ve identified locations for the entire planned route. Over the past twelve years I’ve done six 600-1,000 mile tours with shorter 200-400 rides in-between. My general loadout is about 30-40 lbs that includes for modest tent camping and light snacks. I pick up food along the way depending on availability and pack as little as is safe, I always have enough dehydrated food for a couple days in case of emergencies.

Mini Estonia Adventure Aug 9-18, 2026 (Hotel-to-Hotel)
Created: March 8, 2026
Female polyglot prof from Boston area seeks buddies for mini-adventure in Estonia. Upon completing an organized trip from Vilnius to Tallin, I am planning to continue East along the Estonian Baltic coast, then South to Tartu, Estonia’s historic university city and cultural capital. Follow’s the EU’s EuroVelo 10 route, but taking smaller parallel roads to avoid traffic. Estonia is cool in August, is very safe, has the best bike infrastructure of the Baltics and my route maximizes small roads, but there may be wind, unpredictable weather, and at times gravel. Thus, daily distances 70 to 90 km. Stay at moderate hotels in towns with supermarkets, many of them on the coast. Total hotels (single rooms) around $950-1000, can be less if shared. Rental bike around $150, train back Tartu-Tallinn c $25. I am “slow” ( average 11mph on daylong treks) and like stopping at cafes.

Seeking emergency paid support (if needed) for repairs on loop tour of Western Texas
Created: February 13, 2026
Experienced, 72-year old cyclist looking for reliable individual for emergency on-road bike repairs (only if needed) during upcoming (April-May) loop tour of western Texas. For help with any problems I can’t fix on my own. I will prepay up to $400 just for availability, plus actual expenses (gas, your time) if incurred. To make this manageable, breaking this up into three 6-9 day segments within a two-hour drive time of your location. Need one person in each of three areas: Greater Del Rio (w to Sanderson), Alpine-Marfa (north to Pecos) and east/south of San Angelo. My wife is worried about this mechanically disinclined cyclist in areas far from any bike shop. Should know rim brakes and tubeless technology for touring bike. I will carry needed parts. NOT seeking sag or pick-up (unless emergency) I will be carrying a global satellite for areas without a cell signal. Think of this as an insurance policy. Contact Phil for exact dates, details.

Vancouver Crossing Loop, Spring 2026

Hi! My name is Heather and I live in Vancouver Canada. I’m planning to bike Adventure Cycling’s new Vancouver Crossing Loop this winter or spring. Anyone want to join? I’m an experienced cycle tourer and have done bits of the route already over the years but not the Cowichan part, and doing it all in one trip sounds fun. I’m planning to camp, am willing to do it in the rain, and have flexibility about schedule. My max comfortable mileage is about 75km/45mi per day but am happy to do less if that works better for others. Let me know if you are interested in biking it together, or if you want company on other jaunts in the Vancouver BC area 🙂

Riding Partner For My First Trans Am in 2026
Created: May 18, 2025
Leaving Yorktown, VA April 27th 2026. Hope to find a nice lady who likes to have fun to share the Adventures. I’m 61 and a Medical Professional. I have been a cyclist most of my life. Stopped for a while but getting back in great shape.
Will be ready to average 60 miles a day. If you can keep up with that pace then we should finish the Trail by end of July at latest. Planning 1 day a week off on average. I love Music, History, and talking to people.
Will be camping mostly, but like to play it by ear. So most the fun is the improvising decisions that make the Adventure possible.
Would like to stay on the Trans American Trail as much as possible, but still have fun. Will bring all the usual tech, but will try to use only Adventure Maps as much as I can.
If you can play a musical instrument that would be great. But you don’t have to be anything but yourself and willing to take your time and have fun. Nothing is in stone except it’s all about having fun and not quitting.

Would like time to stop and visit with locals at coffeeshops, with some rest days, too.

After reading “Miles From Nowhere” in 1883, I bikepacked almost 5,000 miles around Europe in 1984. Now at 69 years of age, I want to do it again, but this time just keep going and make it the whole way! Sounds crazy to even say that out loud. If you are someone who has dreamed of this kind of trip, let’s talk!
Oahu, Hawaii rides
Created: November 20, 2025
I’m a 65 year old long time resident and started cycling again 10 years ago when I retired. I’ve graduated to ebikes now, so that I can go further and be less worn out at the end of the day. I have a few friends I do rides with, but they’re not always available.
I’m always happy to show newcomers around the island, so if you’re going to be on Oahu and would like to ride, let me know.

GDMBR – South to North – June/July 2026
Created: October 13, 2025
Hi there! I’m a recently retired woman from Vancouver, Canada, and I’m planning a northbound bikepacking trip along the ACA Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR), starting in New Mexico and finishing in Banff, Alberta. My planned departure is June 2026. I’ll be camping as much as possible, with occasional stays in hotels or with Warm Showers hosts. I’ve been cycling for over 20 years, and last summer I completed a modified section of the GDMBR (Banff to Fernie), followed by the BC Epic 1000 (Fernie to Kelowna). I’m aiming to average around 50 miles (80 km) per day, give or take 10 miles, with a rest day roughly once a week. This is a tour, not a race — I’m in it for the journey and the experience. I’m easygoing, open to ideas, and would love to connect with like-minded riders to share this adventure. All ages and genders are welcome!
bicycle companion wanted……preferably female.
Created: May 13, 2025
I am Phil, fit a 72 year old male bicyclist from Sydney, Australia. On different trips, I have cycled over half way around the world. I am looking for a bicycle companion, preferably a female, to join me in exactly 12 months from now, in May of 2026. But I would also consider a male. The trip will be mostly camping. I intend to bicycle north from Quesnel in British Columbia, Canada to Tuktoyactuk, 3,132 kilometres at the top of the continent. I began this trip 2 years back in Seattle and rode 620 kilometres to Quesnel( I got a car lift for one section). But way north the Alaskan highway got closed by bushfires. So I went back to Australia. Thanks, Phil

I’m a 66-year-old former randonneur who plans to finally finish riding the left coast of the US. Credit-card camping, with a lot of long days (most at least 60 miles, and some with 5,000 feet of climbing) probably averaging 11 or 12 mph, and only one day off in Lompoc. I’ve already booked my lodging and trains down and back, so everything is the first two weeks of May. If this coincides with anyone’s plans, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Short Gravel Bikepacking trips in Oregon
Created: June 4, 2025
I’ve done several 2- and 3-night gravel bike packing trips based out of Portland, Oregon. I’ve ridden to the coast a couple times, several large sections of the Oregon Timber Trail, and also around the Mt. Hood region. I’m planning on doing a 2 or 3 night circumnavigation of Mt. Hood this summer mostly on gravel and some trails. Just throwing out the invite for this or any other similar trip if someone else is looking for company on the trail/road. I’m a seasoned, relatively strong rider but am happy to join someone with less or more experience. I’m fine with riding together or regrouping while on route due to different riding paces. Let me know! – Scott
